Gasoline falls 33 cents in largest weekly price drop ever
Wednesday, October 15, 2008
USA Today -- WASHINGTON (Reuters) — The average retail price for gasoline fell 33.3 cents over the last week to $3.15 a gallon, the biggest price decline ever recorded by the government, the Energy Department said on Tuesday.

The new pump price beat the old record decline of 16.9 cents a gallon which occurred during the week of the Sept. 12, 2005, when fuel costs fell after the government announced it would release millions of barrels of emergency crude oil to help replace petroleum supplies disrupted by Hurricane Katrina.

The national price for regular unleaded gasoline is the cheapest since Feb. 25, but is still up 39 cents from a year ago, the department's Energy Information Administration said in its weekly survey of service stations.

We went under $3 a gallon today...

I'd probably be happy with under $2 a gallon...

But I won't be truly happy until it settles down and after all the smoke and mirrors from our government...Under $1 per gallon is my goal for happiness.

Well, chewyclamso, I'm kinda excited... I hope that it will last and continue to trend down. I understand we're still up from last year but at least the prices are headed in the right direction.

prices have probably reached a bottom, either way OPEC has ways to control the supply, so don't hold you're breath on prices continue to decline.

Don't buy New SUVs, buying new ones will just encourage Detroit to continue to supply us the drugs we're addicted to.

BUY use if you need one.

Toyota has promised to fit their Synergy Hybrid Technology on all their vehicles within 10 years, toyota is a auto manufacturer that knows what the consumer needs. Take heed Detroit, ADAPT or DIE!!!!!

Americans are supposed to get excited about this? Gas should only be about $1.50 to $1.80 a gallon.

Still think that the price at the pump will fall to levels where it was when the price of crude was around $70 to $80 per barrell. That would put the pump price around $ 2.40 to $ 2.70 per gal. regular.

The dropping price of gas has not matched the drop in oil. Oil is down 40-50% but gas is only down 20-30%

Gas went up to $1.05 a litre here in Belleville,Ontario, Canada then down yesterday. I do not know why. I always buy in Napanee or from the Indian Reserve just east of Belleville on Hwy 2 because they are much cheaper than my city.

Pump price here today is $2.33 to $2.39 in many stations. No big surprise people have gone to smaller vehicles with high mileage per gas. More fuel for the land roving big tanks I see on the road.
