2011 F150 2wd RWD SuperCrew 3.7L V6 with cold air induction (Volant w/scoop) and reprogrammed chip (5star tuning set for performance) so I get 16-18 in town (depends on driving habits) and 22+ highway. Went from a 2004 Chevy Colorado 5 cyc 3.5L 2wd RWD @ 17/23mpg So got a bigger truck with about the same mpg after a few tweaks Better ride, more comfortable and more secure (6 airbags) Of course I would have wanted a Prius but I like bigger so the comfort versus gas savings. Comfort wins.

Front wheel drive is supposed to be the safest, except for cruise-control in the rain/wet roadways.

I had a four-wheel drive Dodge Dakota, but it got to the point about 3 years ago, where I could not longer support its expensive drinking habits. I traded down for a smaller 6-cyl. SUV, then down to a 4-cyl. Chrysler Sebring. Loving the improved gas mileage with the Sebring.

Although my primary vehicle(s) for over a decade have been front wheel drive, and they make it through snow when it's not too deep, I'd rather be driving my van when the snow piles up, because of the higher road clearance. Our current Honda Civic is especially low to the ground, so there's much less clearance even than our older Focus. I notice that when the roads get really slick and 4WD vehicles are speeding by, we end up passing many of them eventually where they lost control and spun off the road. 4WD can be handy, but it doesn't make you invincible.

Still have my four wheel drive. Can't justify a big car and insurance payment to cut what I figured (at $4/ gallon) to be under $20 a month difference in gas.

I find it funny that one of the options is "I don't know." A person should already know or go out to their vehicle and find out before answering the survey question.

FWD Focus average 32mpg on days I'm driving like a bat out of hell. Can do better if I try and coast more. Have a bit of a lead foot.

JUST BUY THE GAS THAT YOU NEED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. THE PRICE OF GAS IS STILL FALLING. WAS $ 2.84 here in Oklahoma City for about 3 days, at a place called Goodies. NW 63rd & Meridian Ave, Oklahoma City, OK I have a front wheel drive HHR. Gets about 33mpg with the A/C on as cold as it will go, all the time.
